Catherine is Atlus’ first HD title from the Persona development team released for both the PS3 and Xbox 360. You could say it’s a spin-off title based off a side character from one of their more popular franchises, Persona 3 Portable.
Vincent Brookes is a 32 year old man being pressed into the dreaded question of marriage by his fiancé Katherine but, he’s not sure if he wants to be tied down yet. Since then, his nightmares of himself being turned into a sheep and climbing for his life, running away from unforeseen horrors have been getting worse. One night, he decides not to go home, not wanting to experience the nightmares again and ends up meeting a playful girl also named Catherine (with a C) who he has a one night stand with. Rumours have it that a there is a woman cursing unfaithful men who end up dying from their dreams. Could Vincent be cursed and escape?
It’s Silver Week in Japan which means some of the Japanese are on holiday and that’s probably also the reason why there’s no update for the P3P website today. But nevermind… Lets take a look at what happened at last Saturday’s Persona Music Live 2009 concert instead!
Thanks to the late Twitter micro blogging craze it’s slightly more easier to find out how the concert went at Tokyo, Wel City. Not to mention the myriad of blogs too of course! The biggest credit has to go to Mikecchi who wrote a very detailed account of the event.
The P3P blog update this week features Shoji Meguro the sound composer talking a little about the new music.
He composed the new tracks for the Heroine with the delicacy and gentleness of the female gender in mind. However, although there are new BGMs for the Heroine, there really isn’t that many new tracks – Town, school and battle theme etc. Also, the opening theme song “Soul Phrase” sung by Shuuhei Kita was composed towards the unveiling of the Heroine’s story so it’s in an (obviously) different style than Burn My Dread.
So if we see the Hero in the opening, is that a hint he will be a Social Link too? Guess we’ll find out in the following six weeks.
Yup, Atlus’ Persona updates just aren’t going to stop yet.
It looks like the website for this year’s Persona Music Live concert (which takes place next month) has been given a renewal and now shows the new heroine added to P3 Portable.
It’s not for the PS3 as I was expecting from the “leak” last time but maybe that’s good news since I’ll be able to play it! I guess the DS could be considered “new hardware” since it has received a proper SMT game yet.
Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey will be for the DS on October 8th.
