Last Day in Japan, Day 12 Time to Fly Back to UK

Kamata Station

So today was the day we fly back to UK but, we still had a morning free before heading off to the airport – well, whole afternoon really but didn’t want to join the rush hour trains carrying luggage…

Trip to Japan Day 11 – 5cm Location Hunting, Evangelion Store, Tokyo Metropolitan Building

Harajuku, one of the spots for 5cm.

It was our last day in Japan before we fly back to Scotland tomorrow. So, being a big fan of Makoto Shinkai’s 5 Centimetres per Second (5cm) fan I just had to visit some of the locations that were located around Tokyo.

Note: The location hunting wasn’t done in order and this wasn’t a full day dedicated to 5cm location hunting. You will see the local areas too. Photos are also cropped to match the way they’re depicted in the Anime but if you click on them, you can see the uncropped photos.

A Look at the Uniqlo Official Evangelion 2.0 Movie T-shirts | ユニクロの公式エヴァ破Tシャツをちょっとみようか | 看看Uniqlo的新世紀福音戰士劇場版破短袖衫

Went ahead and ordered a few official Uniqlo Evangelion 2.0 t-shirts from London’s Uniqlo store which offers a one off, flat rate postage and packaging fee so if you’re ordering, it’s best if you ordered more than one item.

Although most online stores offer free postage, Uniqlo doesn’t but arrived the next day after dispatch. I was expecting to sign for the package since it’s tracked but I just found it through the letter box. No cardboard packaging, just a neatly packed Uniqlo branded white bag.

Evangelion 2.22 Blu-Ray Collector’s Edition Review | エヴァがリオン破2.22 Blu-ray | 看看新世紀福音戰士破2.22的藍盤限量版

Both the DVD and Blu-ray release of Evangelion 2.22 is finally out and since both copies come with the collector’s film strip this time, I decided to go for the higher quality Blu-ray version.

The packaging is fairly much the same as the 1.01 limited edition – A sturdy cardboard box except I think it’s orange for the Blu-ray versions.

Some movie spoilers ahead.

Evangelion You Can (Not) Advance Complete Records Collection Book

Gainax is due to release two A4 sized books containing a total of 650 pages this summer entitled, “Evangelion You Can (Not) Advance Complete Records Collection” which will feature the following…

  • Full “film story” script and scenes to the third movie “Evangelion: Q” trailer.
  • Music cue sheets.
  • Narration scripts.
  • Design works from the production studio.
  • Artworks board.
  • Interviews with 14 of the production staff including Anno Hideaki.
  • Posters, leaflets and all other materials used for marketing during its screening.
  • A commented, outlined edited version of the movie’s script.

There will be a case for the two books. First press copies will get two additional art board booklets, a film strip and early pre-orders will also get a bonus Tote bag. All for 12,600 Yen (US$138) and pre-orders are available on HMV Japan.

This must be the “cheapest” collection of movie guide books ever. So they haven’t cut up the entire movie reel for their DVD/Blu-ray releases yet then. Maybe worth it if you’re a hardcore Eva fan or try your luck at getting a film strip worth close to US$1000?
