Doraemon lends Nobita a gadget that let's him dive into the world of any story book he wants and watch events unfold live. As usual, he decides to show off and invite Shizuka but ends up being overheard by the bored Jaian and Suneo instead. After getting diappointed by Jack and The Beanstock world, they decide to break apart Nobita's already worn storybooks so that all the pages were mixed up which meant the story worlds were too. With the stories all messed up, Shizuka decides to leave but gets knocked out and taken as a slave along the way.
Before long, Doraemon notices one of the gadgets needed to enter the storybooks was missing and they realise Shizuka was still stuck inside and what's worse, the books had already been disposed of. Fortunately one of the Arabian Nights (One Thousand and One Nights) tales features a character that actually exists and so they decide to go to Baghdad in the past which may lead to the storybook world Shizuka is stuck in.
Unfortunately for the rescue team, Doraemon's dimensional pocket is stolen by bandits and they are left to journey without the aid of gadgets.
Bit of a different start to the story than your usual Nobita gets bullied and needs help. Quite a good movie overall with less gadgets this time round. One of Fujio's other works Q-taro gets a cameo as well as a character design from the movie Underworld.
