申し訳ありませんが、この記事は和訳がございません。
In the rural town of Kouzaki, withdrawn Kaoru Touno meets Anzu Hanashiro at the local train station on a rainy day. It turns out Anzu is the new transfer student but she isn't very sociable and lending her his umbrella kicked off gossip about them.
One night while running away from his drunken violent father, Kaoru comes across a tunnel. There he finds his family's pet parrot which should have been long gone. What's more after returning home, he finds a week of time had gone by. Certain it was the rumoured "Urashima Tunnel" that can grant any wish in exchange for their lifespan, Kaoru was determined to make use of it.
However, Anzu discovers the tunnel too while trying to return his umbrella and following him. When she discovers they both had wishes, she suggests they work together investigating how the tunnel works before making the journey through.
Watched this movie because of the hype. It kicks off quite cliche of shows set in highschool; transfer student, loner male protagonist. It even has a scene that looks like Shinji from Evangelion lying in bed brooding away with earphones on. There's even a scene where Anzu is like Rei... The way messages are delayed also reminds me of Shinkai's Voices of a Distant Star.
After that it does get better as it focuses more on the mystery but also the difficulties our little couple are trying to overcome. It's not a happy romcom but it's a nice different take to time travel and wraps up well so worth a watch.
