What a rip off... Gainax has announced they will be releasing v1.11 of the first Rebuild of Evangelion movie "You Are (Not) Alone 1.0" onto Blu-ray and DVD with new cuts and digital re-mastering on May 27th.

Having already own the limited edition DVD, I will just have to resort to "open source" to see these new scenes. I bet they held the cuts back in the first place and had planned this all along despite saying they weren't planning an HD release when they announced the LE DVD. Well, it was inevitable and judging from the way sales went, the demand is there. According to Newtype, the last movie rolled in 20 billion Yen on première day from 85 cinemas and DVD sales exceeds over 600,000 copies.

Anyway, the next movie Evangelion 2.0 - You Can (Not) Advance is due in Japanese cinemas on June 27th.

I wonder if it will pick up from episode seven? The last movie "You Are (Not) Alone" depicted how Shinji wasn't alone unlike in the TV series so what does "You Can (Not) Advance" refer to this time? And will there be leaked footage again before the première this time round too?

I'm pretty sure this illustration of Asuka will end up in the next LE DVD booklet just like how Rei's one was used. What will be included with the DVD this time...? It would be great if the movie posters were packed inside too! By the fourth movie, it's going to be packed with characters.
