Makoto Shinkai Artbook Sora no Kioku Covers Revealed

I still haven't managed to find a good place to order Makoto Shinkai's first artbook yet. Reader Maltos managed to find HMV (it's in English) but, £7 delivery is just a bit hefty to be honest when the book itself is already around £13 so I'm still keeping an eye out for alternatives. I suppose it's better than Amazon's ridiculous £19 charge, though.

Anyway, CW Films has revealed the covers for the book. The first landscape image you see is the actual cover while the second cover is the removable outside cover. Judging by the looks of this, the artbook will probably have one background printed per page, landscape oriented. There will probably be some comments printed on them but I hope they're in a little white space of their own at the side or something.

Well, they're not really clean shots... There are characters on them. It's nice to have it on print too, something tangible.

As for the artbook, you can always get a preview from the artbook page of my blog ;)

ordered this a few days ago and cant wait to get it. For those people wanting to scan for backgrounds, there is this thing called blue-ray that makes nice desktop sized pics : )

I've known about that site for a while now but i can't get around those black borders. I've made a few nice wallpapers from scans from DVD inserts but there are some backgrounds i'm dying to get hold of.
His work is most definately frame worthy!

On another note, despite my undeniable lack of japanese literacy i still went ahead and ordered the 5CM japanese special edition. I also ordered the One more time... single.
Next on the list is the R1 release and the artbook and novel [which i won't even be able to red u____u ~ so sad]

You're not the only one who's thinking of creating some wallpaper from the book but, I think the ones on the 5cm site are already enough for decorating the desktop with. I've been using the 6th Cosmonaut wallpaper (the one with Kanae and Takaki walking home together) ever since I watched the movie ^^;

I wouldn't mind having a bigger version of the images to frame and hang up TBH.

I'm sure Shinkai will be happy about the support. Good to see you're getting the novel too. It's actually not that big and heavy. An Amazon reviewer recommends reading it while listening to the OST which is what I done too.

Just ordered my copy from hmv.co.jp along with the novel. Gotta help Shinkai pay for that steep London rent (although having moved from Tokyo he should be used to it).

Wonderfull cover. It just confirms my love for Shinkai's backgrounds. I really can't wait to get my hands on this book.

I do hope, however, they stick to keeping the image clean with comments neatly away from the actual pictures. Mainly for purpose that i will be looking out for [and maybe try to make some] scans of my favourite backgrounds.
It just screams 'amazing wallpaper opportunity'.
