Doraemon: Nobita and the Tin Labyrinth (1993, Shin-Ei Animation)
ドラえもん のび太とブリキの迷宮
Doraemon Nobita to Buriki no Rabirinsu
It's nearing the spring break. While up late watching TV, Nobita's dad sees an ad for a beautiful looking resort but decides not to go anyway, thinking it would be hard to find a place to stay. As if hearing his words, the voice says there are plenty of rooms at the local "Buriki (Tin) Hotel" and he agrees to visit.
The next day, Nobita was happy to learn they were heading somewhere just like the rest of his friends but, it might just have been his dad drunk because he was just talking to the TV. Just when he was expecting Doraemon to help him yet again, a mysterious suitcase appears in his home. And so begins their adventure to a land which was run mostly by wind-up tin entities but there seems to be more than meets the eye.
One more movie with a different start than your usual troubled Nobita. Kind of a creepy one too with the TV full of noise and the TV talking back just reminded me of Persona 4's Mayonaka TV. Might also be the first time I've seen Doraemon getting tortured...
Nice to see the insides of other characters homes which still look great in the HD remaster but you also end up missing out on some details with the 4:3 to 16:9 crop.
In the end, it's another nice take on how AI ends up taking over the race that invented it.
