“Brain Age” from Sega
Hoping to catch onto the popularity of the "brain training" genre of games, Sega prepares to launch their own title for the NDS.
Making use of the ATMT?Advance Trail Making Test?that is currently being used in brain surgeries and hospitals, Nounenrei Nou Stress-kei Atama Scan is a new title from Sega that will monitor the stress on your brain and train it to make it sharper.
As with Brain Age, the website claims that the brain will deteriorate just like the human body if it is not regularly exercised. However, it also suggests that a fairly stressed brain can not be trained effectively.
The title is out on September 14th.
Read on to find out what's in store.
The ATMT was developed by Dr. Osami Kajimoto of Soiken, a medical research corporation, which measures how fit the brain is, its reflexes and how effectively it is being used.
By making the candidate tap random numbers on the screen, the ATMT can measure his/her brain age. As he/she progresses in the exercise, his/her brain will be unconciously working to pick out the correct number. At this point, the brain makes use of only its memory power (working memory), ability to search by sight, the mind's reflexes and the longetivity of its awareness (stress). It is a highly trustworthy system that many institutions make use of.
To measure your brain age and stress level, Sega's title will contain sample data from 100,000 canditates that have taken the ATMT together with over 1000 more records collected especially for this title.
Once your brain age and stress level has been determined, the software will adjust the training exercises accordingly which includes:
Slots:
Spin them 5 times and try to match as many symbols as possible.
Timing:
Tap the dog on the screen as you watch the timer tick.
Reflexes:
Tap as many dogs as you can.
Balloon Juggling:
Blow into the mic to send balloons up.
