Fate Strange Fake (2026, A1 Pictures)

Worth A Watch

無中文版

The "Fourth" Holy Grail War is about to begin and it's happening in America, Snowfield. However, unlike the traditional way whenever it occurred in its origin of Japan, the participating Servants were reduced from seven to six. The Mages Association that oversee the event, sense something amiss and discover someone was trying to recreate the war outside Japan, starting with a fake one.

Clueless Ayaka Sajo is sent by Einzbern from Japan and finds herself participating reluctantly as the various participants unravel the incident's true intentions.

Quite a fan of Fate Stay Night (show, not the adult game) and ended up watching Unlimited Blades too. Didn't watch the other spin-off entries like Apocrypha after that because they felt too wacky compared to the it's original tone. This showed more promise so I returned to the series.

Almost started this before watching the prologue movie "Whispers of a Dawn" from 2023. Both Masters and Servants are interestingly new apart from Gilgamesh who makes an egoistic return. There are the odd familiar names and faces from past "wars". Very fresh after all the Fate Stay remakes. Atmosphere is tense as the supernatural war should feel from previous shows. There are the odd jokes but tense for the most part.

Eccentric characters make the interactions a fun watch and all the domineering mix of participants make it an intense watch. Good thing they don't keep shouting out skill names too.

Hopefully it picks up again soon.
