Doraemon: Nobita and the Spiral City (1997, Shin-ei Animation)
び太のねじ巻き都市冒険記
Doraemon Nobita no Nejimaki Shitī Bōkenki
Summer holidays. Suneo brags about owning a horse and having a big piece of farmland to ride it on. As usual Nobita claims he has the same too but Doraemon has trouble granting his wish. When Doraemon runs off to the future to collect his Dorayaki he receives a bunch of coupons that let him win "planets". Instead of seeing the planets as barren useless piecs of rock, Nobita decides to try his luck and maybe find one where they can create the prairie he needs for his show off. Just when he reaches the last ticket, his friends arrive and to his relief, it lead to a giant bountiful green fields.
As they enjoy creating their own dream "Spiral City", populated by wound-up toys, they are unaware a wanted criminal had managed to go through the Anywhere Door and aims to claim the place. Not only that, the wound-up citizens beginning to evolve with intelligence of their own. Meanwhile, a mystery entity is not too happy about the sudden increase of inhabitants.
Yet another green planet advocating Doraemon movie. I was kind of put off by the look of this movie with the what looked like human clones doing silly things so it might have been one of the more boring movies. Turns out quite adventurous from the start. Aside from the wound-up talking animals, it's quite an exciting movie and even has something that resembles Terminator.
It feels like there isn't as much use of gadgets but the bit of mystery and battle against the criminals makes it pretty compelling to watch.
