Top 10 Anime Characters in October’s Newtype
Cheers to whoever's scanning in these 200 page Newtype magazines. Must be a lot of work, not mention risk crumping up the artwork ^^;
Looks like Kyon and Lelouch are making their way up the top 10 male Anime characters this month, knocking Shinji down to number three.
Nothing unexpected really. I guess the effects of the Eva 2.0 movie are wearing off until the DVD is released perhaps. Other than that, the re-showing of Suzumiya Haruhi must be helping Kyon and the other characters out. Dont know how Lelouch is making a comeback, though.
- Kyon, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
- Lelouch Lamperouge, Code Geass
- Ikari Shinji, Evangelion 2.0
- Nagisa Kaworu, Evangelion 2.0
- Kira Yamato, Gundam SEED
- Gintoki Sakada, Gintama
- Edward Elric, Full Metal Alchemist
- Roy Mustang, Full Metal Alchemist
- Tieria Erde, Gundam 00
- Araragi Koyomi, Bakemonogatari
Meanwhile for the top 10 female characters, Haruhi Suzumiya seems to have made it to the top too together with Yuki coming second. Rei's still managing to stay very high being an all time favourite but Asuka's been knocked to the bottom of the chart. Her change of character must not be making much of an impression in the movie.
- Suzumiya Haruhi, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
- Nagato Yuki, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
- Ayanami Rei, Evangelion 2.0
- C.C., Code Geass
- Hirasawa Yui, K-ON
- Akiyama Mio, K-ON
- Senjougahara Hitagi, Bakemonogatari
- Lacus Clyne, Gundam SEED
- Sheryl Nome, Macross F
- Asuka Langley Shikinami, Evangelion 2.0
It's also looking like currently ongoing Bakemonogatari is starting to make its mark in the Otakusphere with the Senjougahara fascination, landing her into seventh place.

(An irrational annoyance, to be sure - by all accounts he deserves the accolades - but there it is.)
As for me, I'll put all celebrations on hold until the glorious moment when Sakata Gintoki takes his rightful place at the top of the charts.

Especially with the fact that Kira trumps over the more often seen male characters. Like Ed.
