Players start off by creating a profile first, entering a name and choosing one of three available commander avatars. Once that is done, you can choose a stage to play on the map screen. After a stage is chosen, it's time to select the commander and other units you want to use for the fight by selecting their cards.

Finally, the rest remains the same as with other Dynasty Warrior games - Conquer new territory until you reach the enemy base. You'll fight up to 20 enemies at a time.
