Falcom reveals the MMORPG that went live in Korea 2007, Ys Online – The Call of Solum will be hitting Japan sometime this Spring. There’s no definite time at the moment but a teaser site is up. Odd I can’t access the site. Maybe it’s Japanese IPs only?
Too bad I’m too late in getting one of the English version closed beta keys. I wonder if it sports the same furious, fast-paced battles the original Japanese titles have? Being an online game, I doubt they are.
If you haven’t already bought the ports of APRGs Ys I and II for the DS but still intend to then perhaps this is for you. According to ITmedia, a special collector’s edition containing both games, a twenty-eight soundtrack and phone strap will be available from April 18th onwards. The bad news is it will be an exclusive for retailer 7dream.com.
The two games should have been sold together in the first place really.
It’s not the first time the Ys I and II have been remade. I guess Falcom’s decision to remake it again must be due to the influence of other games company such as Square-Enix doing remakes too recently.
I only played through Ys II Eternal on PC and although both the graphics and the gameplay system were very much dated compared to other titles at the time, the game remained very fun. All you did was pretty much run into enemies to attack them. No button bashing at all. Well, you still had to time and dodge projectiles too of course. The boss battles have always been crazy!
Ys II was actually the game that got me into Falcom’s other titles later on such as Ys Origin and Legend of Heroes VI.
Woohoo! Finally got the package this afternoon! Now I can look at this secret bonus gift they’re sending out to people and enjoy the art collection. No import tax for this package fortunately and I notice that EMS seems to be always arrive in a muchcleaner state than UPS. Plus UPS is always charging a handling fee on top of the delivery charge -_-
