It’s been a while since Makoto Shinkai released his first art book, “A Sky Longing for Memories” (which you can get an English copy of by Vertical Comics). Now he’s released a new one at around the same time as his latest youth movie, “Your Name” and it’s a B2 sized, 160 page book subtitled “Walker: Hikari no Kiseki [Trails of Light]”.
Priced at 2800 Yen, the budget DVD release of the 4 year old “The Place Promised in Our Early Days” is due in Japan on June 18th next week. It will contain both the English and Russian dub of the movie for Japanese fans to enjoy.
Shinkai also writes he’s happy his movie has sold over 70,000 copies in Japan and that it’s made its way into 30 different countries as of now.
Got round to watching Makoto Shinkai’s “The Place Promised in Our Early Days” after picking up ADV’s “The Shinkai Collection” DVD set.
Before I watched 5 Centimetres per Second, I had decided to avoid his works after being disappointed with Voices of a Distant Star. Then after watching the movie out of curiosity and being impressed by it, I decided to try his other movies again.
