The latest Shin Megami Tensei game, “Strange Journey” tells of how humans have reached the point where the population has exceeded the 70 billion mark but without resolving the many issues that damaged the natural habitat of Earth, an odd phenomena has occurred in the Antarctic. A giant magnetic hole has appeared and is slowly expanding, absorbing everything in its path. While providing a cover up to prevent any more public panick, the UN has dispatched a team as part of Operation Schwarzbirth to find out what’s inside but things don’t go well at all.
Very typical save the world against evil storyline so far.
The official site for Atlus’ latest Shin Megami Tensei title, Strange Journey is up as mentioned it would be last time.
It’s not for the PS3 as I was expecting from the “leak” last time but maybe that’s good news since I’ll be able to play it! I guess the DS could be considered “new hardware” since it has received a proper SMT game yet.
Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey will be for the DS on October 8th. Taking place in the early 21st century, a portal to another dimension in the South Pole, dubbed “Schwarzbirth” by the United Nations, has appeared and is threatening mankind’s existence. In order not to spread panic it is kept a secret but as the portal grows in size, a Schwarzbirth Investigation Unit is formed to find out what’s inside.
The RPG will feature…
- An upgradable “Demonica Suit” using software applications.
- Conversation system to convince demons to join you.
- Over 300 demons at your fusion disposal.
And the staff are…
- Producer/Character and Devil Design: Kazuma Kaneko
- Director: Eiji Ishida (SMT3/Raidou/Raidou2)
- Scenario: Shogo Isogai (SMT3/Raidou/Trauma Centre series)
- Composer: Shoji Meguro
The official site will be open next Monday together with a trailer.
Someone has noticed a link to a logo buried within the source code of Atlus’ new teaser site but it has now been removed.
This is why coding can be a pain… You have to be careful about what you put in the code ^^;
And here is the mysterious “MegaTen DS” game that Atlus had revealed as part of its DS line up four years ago, Devil Survivor. Another spin-off title from their MegaTen series but also unrelated to the Persona series.
It is the middle of the summer holidays in August. Your cousin Naoya has invited you and your friends Yuzu and Atsurou for a day out to Shibuya 901 to hang out. However upon arriving, you find out he can’t make it but has asked Yuzu to give out machines that resemble a Nintendo DS called a “Communication Player” or “Comp” for short. After hacking open the protection on it, they find themselves having the ability to see how long others have to live and receive strange emails foretelling future incidents that will happen in the city. Hours later, the city is quarantined. All communications and power are cut off and monsters are appearing everywhere. With your new power to summon “Devils”, you are determined to survive and change fate before the seven days are up.
