Makoto Shinkai’s first artbook, which contains over 400 backgrounds from his movies, appears to be selling well. Daike-san tells me that it’s sold out in a good number of shops in Akiba and it’s even managed to make Amazon’s Top 10 list of Japanese books.
Can’t wait to get a hold of it myself!

Do you know if this book is being sold anywhere else besides Amazon JP and HMV JP?
I think i’m going to be ordering this pretty soon! I really want a first print for some reason. I wouldn’t be able to tell anyway hahah.
But my 5CM LE DVD and single arrived today.
I got a pretty unimpressive film strip~ 4 pictures of the arrrows in the target at the start of Cosmonaut. I’m satisfied though. Just happy to be owning a hard copy of the film.

I’m trying to bug someone over in Japan to get me it so I don’t have to pay the high handling and delivery charge but, looks like it’s sold out. Apparently it’ll be another week until the next batch >_>
Good to hear you got the DVD. So did you get it off PA and risk customs? I know another guy got shots of the stadium lights where Takaki was training for football in Oukashou. As you say, it’s still good to have a hard copy of the film and the artwork.
Hopefully you’ll get lucky then! And i never thought it’d be that popular~ Shinkai obviously has a lot of fans in Japan!
