Place Promised to Get a Budget DVD Release in Japan

Priced at 2800 Yen, the budget DVD release of the 4 year old "The Place Promised in Our Early Days" is due in Japan on June 18th next week. It will contain both the English and Russian dub of the movie for Japanese fans to enjoy.

Shinkai also writes he's happy his movie has sold over 70,000 copies in Japan and that it's made its way into 30 different countries as of now.

Nope. Just little notes that he had started planning it and that he's started production at his new studio now.

Diana managed to make out a lot of detail from his computer in his recent "blog" entry which I could hardly distinguish ^^;

No disagreement there. IMO, his work's been improving with each commercially sold movie. Hopefully his fourth one will show that he's once again built on his experience.

In my opinion, Promised Place wasn't the best of Shinkai's works. He should release an English dub for 5cm Per Second instead or at least Voices of a Distant Star.
