Surprise Obama-Clinton Talks

無中文版

I don't really pay attention to elections but the race between Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton has been in the news spotlight for a long time now so, I couldn't help but follow some of the events. I think it was fairly obvious Obama was going to win the primary season but, Clinton also deserves applause for not letting her supporters down. It was also interesting to see that Obama had to say.

"Our party and our country are better off because of her and I am a better candidate for having had the honour to compete with Hillary Rodham Clinton."

Besides being a return compliment, he makes a good point because if Clinton hadn't kept in the race then, I don't think Obama would have got as much publicity, new ideas how he will make the nations better, nor the experience of what other opponents may throw at him in my opinion. But is he saying this and carrying out talks with Clinton just part of an act to lap up more support as early as he can or, does he really appreciate what the competition has done for him?

Personally I believe he really is genuinely showing his appreciation. Even though John McCain, his next rival in the next stage of the elections, had also challenged his idea of change with the words...

"No matter who wins this election, the direction of this country is going to change dramatically. But the choice is between the right change and the wrong change; between going forward and going backward."

I haven't heard Obama's other talks but I think it's safe to say it will be going forward and for the best if he can appreciate the efforts of other people like this and understand their strengths. A key to understanding what the people will need and in turn, allow him to improve the country. He will be a good president in my opinion.

Now then, I hope any supporters reading this post doesn't start any flaming wars.
